Tulipa ‘Pimpernel’ has scarlet-red flowers with soft green feathering.

Viridiflora Tulips are not extensively cultivated. Most of them are related to Single Late tulips and appreciated by gardeners because of their unusual flower characteristics. The main color of the flowers is green, this is an attractive and rare characteristic amongst flowers. The green part of the flower mostly shows a more or less broad stripe from the base to the point of the petals.. Great for beds, borders and cut-flowers. They are also known for their exceptionally long flowering capability, viridiflora are late blooming tulips.

Tulips are hardy and like other bulbs, easy to grow in well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. The blooms last longer in partial shade locations. The tulips can be planted in Fall when the soil temperature falls below 55F to make sure they root well. The best planting time is when the night time temperatures are between 40-50F. For best results, tulips need approximate 12 weeks of temperatures below 50F.
