Ranunculus ‘Red’ has brilliantly red flowers with multiple layers of delicate, crepe paper-thin petals.

Ranunculus asiaticus has an interesting history from the Middle Ages until present. Besides being a beautiful garden plant it is an excellent cut flower. The color range is wide. Ranunculus is ideally suited to areas with cool, rainy Winters and dry Summer, it does best with a long, cool growing period.

Ranunculus are hardy and like other bulbs, easy to grow in well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. The blooms last longer in partial shade locations. Before planting the bulbs should be soaked in luke-warm water for about 3-4 hours. The bulbs can be planted in the Fall or Spring, bulbs are not hardy that is why Spring planting is recommended for climatic zones 4-8. The Ranunculus can be planted in Fall when the soil temperature falls below 55F to make sure they root well. The best planting time is when the night time temperatures are between 40-50F. For best results, Ranunculus need approximate 12 weeks of temperatures below 50F.
