    Description

Erythronium ‘Pagoda’ has big creamy yellow flowers.

Erythronium (Dog’s-Tooth-Violet, Trout Lily) species are among the most graceful and charming Spring flowers for a woody setting and are native to North America. The flower is similar to a Lily. The common name dog-tooth comes from the long, shiny white tuberous root that resembles a canine tooth. Flowers are low growing and have rounded leaves which are heavily mottled with brown.

Erythronium are hardy and like other bulbs, easy to grow in well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. The blooms last longer in partial shade locations. The Erythronium can be planted in Fall when the soil temperature falls below 55F to make sure they root well. The best planting time is when the night time temperatures are between 40-50F. For best results, Erythronium need approximate 12 weeks of temperatures below 50F.
