    Description

Iris germanica ‘Immortality’ has pure white flowers with a light lemon-yellow beard.

Iris germanica (Bearded Iris) is a show-stopper in late Spring. Bearded Iris are available in many colors. They should stay in the ground until they become crowded. The best time to divide them is after the blooming period.

Iris germanica are hardy and like other bulbs, easy to grow in well-drained soil in full sun to partial shade. The blooms last longer in partial shade locations. The Iris germanica can be planted in Fall when the soil temperature falls below 55F to make sure they root well. The best planting time is when the night time temperatures are between 40-50F. For best results, Iris germanica need approximate 12 weeks of temperatures below 50F. Because they grow from a surface rhizome, plant them pointing the direction you want them to grow. Additional water and fertilizer encourages second bloom.
